Diamond Jubilee Party |
| |
|
| |
Nearly one hundred members and friends came to the Wilfrid Wood
Gallery at Stamford Arts Centre to celebrate the first sixty years
of the Society. on the middle Saturday of the Jubilee Exhibition. |
| |
Their animated conversation was partly the result of the somewhat
challenging Party Games which involved a cryptic quiz based on the
exhibited pictures and some problems involving the identification
of famous artists from self portraits. |
| |
| A high
spot of the evening was the cutting of the celebration cake by one
of our original founder members, Joan Hodgkinson. Joan who is an
active old lady turned out in rather dreary weather to join us and
provide a live link to those early days. After the ceremony she was
presented with a bouquet on behalf of the Society by Jane Sharp,
the designer and maker of the cake |

| A little while later there was a break while
we all enjoyed the splendid range of goodies provided by members.
We had to get out an extra table to hold them all and there
was little left at the end, a testimonial to their excellence.
The evening ended with a hands on painting experience as members
drew and coloured squares to to complete a splendid active
outline drawing of Stamford Market by Keith Hensby . The result
was “different.” It does not reveal its subtleties
in a half tone picture but a coloured photograph might end
up in the Society archive. |

The party wound down about 1030 with
all saying they had had an enjoyable evening which we could perhaps
repeat another year, in 2065 perhaps! |
