Artist Biography
 
Joanna Crawford is a locally based artist who was born in Poland. She was educated in both French and English schools, and during her teens in London, she was the winner of many awards for drawing, including some from the Royal Drawing Society. She took a Diploma course at Hammersmith College, specialising in Mural Design.
 
After moving to Stamford in the seventies, she became involved with the newly forming Arts Centre, and co-chaired the restoration of the Stamford Theatre. She was employed by the MOD as a language lecturer and was a prize-winner for technical translations in the field of Aviation
 
As a past President and current member of the Welland Valley Art Society she exhibits regularly in Stamford. Having retired from her work with languages, she now paints full-time, as well as and private tuition in portrait painting.
She is a permanent exhibitor at the International Museum of Women in contemporary Art (M.I.D.A) in Italy and her paintings are collected in many European Countries and in Canada.
